Well, quite a bit has been developed, thrown out, redeveloped, poked, prodded, judged, critiqued, and tested since my last post and none of it is really in any presentable state, except for the most recent developments. The current strain of work began by examining minimally topological surfaces of the schwartz and shoen variety.
Starting with a proto-unit with genetic characteristics, the following are taxonomies of the genetic variations possible. Some work, some don’t, but it needs further testing and refining to work in an aggregate mode. Further, its all produced using a rhino script that will be posted soon.

These tests of different strategies to engage the packing transformations are now a bit old, but lets get them up here anyways.
The first board examines the relationship between the rate of transition (red in diagram) from one unit to another versus the total length of the transition (black in diagram).

The second introduces 2 axis of transformation on the same field (black in diagram) and the relationship of the directionality of the oblique to the transformation (red in diagram).

The final board examines the results of overlapping the system of transformation in 2 axis onto the same units, both symmetrically and not (black in diagram), along with the oblique (red in diagram).
